      Venus Versa™ Frequently Asked Questions

      Prev Next
Am I a good candidate for Photofacial Treatment?

The best candidate is someone who has an uneven complexion with signs of discoloration on their skin. Venus Versa™ photofacial treatments may also work to improve the look of fine lines.

For safety reasons, you may not be able to get this treatment if you have/are:

      • Metal or other implants in the treatment area
      • Current or history of cancer
      • Pregnant or nursing
      • Any diseases that can be stimulated by light (e.g. epilepsy)
      • History of disease that can be stimulated by heat (e.g. herpes)
      • Poorly controlled endocrine disorders (e.g. diabetes or polycystic ovary syndrome)
      • Any active condition in the treatment area (e.g. eczema, psoriasis, rash)
      • History of skin disorders, keloids, unusual wound healing, or excessively dry and/or sensitive skin
      • Any surgical procedures within the past 3 months
      • A tattoo or permanent makeup in the treatment area
      • Excessively tanned skin
I have darker skin - can I have this treatment done?

Venus Versa™ photofacial treatments are powered by Intense Pulsed Light technology, which targets the pigment in your skin. They tend to work best for light to medium skin tones. The treatment may work on darker skin, but there is a higher risk of discoloration because darker skin has more pigment in it. It’s best to consult with your treatment provider to see if the treatment is right for you.

Can a photofacial be done during my lunch break?

Absolutely. Exact treatment times may vary depending on the patient, but a single session typically takes 15-20 minutes.

How many sessions will I need to see results?

Most patients receive 4-5 treatments per area. The exact number will depend on each individual person and the area being treated.

How far apart should my treatments be?

Treatments are generally done 3 weeks apart.

What does a treatment feel like? Will it be painful?

The IPL treatment feels like a light snap or flick on the surface of the skin.

The applicator has a cooling feature built into it to make the treatment as comfortable as possible, but you might feel a bit of discomfort if you’re treating a more sensitive area, like the upper lip. If you find it too uncomfortable, let the operator know and they can adjust the treatment accordingly.

How will I feel after my treatment?

Your skin may feel warm, like a sunburn, and can remain red for anywhere from a few hours to a day. Be sure to follow instructions for before and after your treatment.

Can I put makeup on after my treatment? What else do I need to do?

Yes, you can apply makeup immediately after your treatment, but make sure you put on sunscreen first.

Avoid tanning for at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your treatment, and wear sunscreen. You should also avoid hot baths, massages, or any treatment that requires direct contact with the skin for the first 2 days after your treatment.

Am I a good candidate for the acne treatment?

The best candidate for Venus Versa™ acne treatments is someone who has acne and/or acne-related inflammation on the face or body.

Absolutely. Exact treatment times may vary depending on the patient, but a single session typically takes 15-20 minutes.

How many sessions will I need to see results?

Most patients receive a total of 8-10 treatments.

How far apart should my treatments be?

Treatments are usually done twice a week for a month. Make sure the treatments are scheduled 3-4 days apart.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for my treatment?

Make sure your skin is clean. Do not apply any lotions, creams, or makeup before your session, and stop using any products that might irritate your skin 2-3 days before. You should also avoid tanning, including with self-tanners. You may be advised to shave the area before your treatment. Remove all jewelry around the area being treated.

The IPL treatment feels like a light snap or flick on the surface of the skin.

Am I a good candidate for hair removal treatment?

Venus Versa™ hair removal treatments are for individuals who want to permanently reduce unwanted hair on their face or body because they’re tired of the conventional methods that only yield temporary results. You may not be able to get this hair removal treatment if you have/are:

Venus Versa™ hair removal treatments are powered by Intense Pulsed Light technology, which targets the pigment under the skin’s surface. They tend to work best for light to medium skin tones with darker hair. The treatment may work on darker skin tones, but there is a higher risk of discoloration because darker skin has more pigment in it. It may also not work on very light hair, because the hair doesn’t have enough pigment in it to absorb the light. It’s best to consult with your treatment provider to see if the treatment is right for you. They will perform a test spot and wait between 15 minutes to 48 hours, depending on your complexion, to assess your skin’s reaction.

Can treatment be done during my lunch break?

Potentially—it depends on what part of the body you’re getting treated. If it’s a smaller area, it may only take as little as 15-30 minutes. A larger area, like two full legs, may take up to 60 minutes.

How many sessions will I need to see results?

You’ll likely need 6-10 treatments per area. Hair grows in different stages and at different rates for everyone, so it depends again on each individual person and the area being treated.

How far apart should my treatments be?

Treatments are done 4-6 weeks apart for the face and 4-8 weeks apart for the body.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for my treatment?

Make sure your skin is clean. Do not apply any lotions, creams, or makeup before your session, and stop using any products that might irritate your skin 2-3 days before. Remove all jewelry around the area being treated. The technician will shave and clean the area before starting your treatment. They may ask about your medical history, so it helps to have that information ready. You should also avoid tanning before your treatment.

What does a treatment feel like? Will it be painful?

You’ll feel some heat in the area, but this will only last a short while, thanks to the real-time cooling system that kicks in right away to help minimize discomfort. The treatment itself feels like the light snap with an elastic band against your skin as the applicator moves around the treatment area.

How will I feel after my treatment?

Your skin may look dry and feel a little itchy because the operator has to dry-shave the area before starting the treatment. Moisturizing can help relieve the itch. Other than that, you shouldn’t really feel any different after your treatment.

How long will results last? Are they permanent?

It depends on how your hair grows. Some people may see longer-lasting hair removal, while others who see sporadic hair growth in the area may need touch-up treatments to maintain the results.

Can I put makeup on after my treatment? What else do I need to do?

Yes, you can apply makeup immediately after your treatment, but make sure you put on sunscreen first.

Be sure to gently clean the treated area twice a day and apply sunscreen; however, avoid excessive sun exposure. You should also avoid hot baths, massages, or any treatment that requires direct contact with the skin for the first 2 days after your treatment. Avoid tanning for at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks afterward.

Am I a good candidate for skin resurfacing treatment?

The ideal candidate for Venus Versa™ skin resurfacing treatments is anyone who shows signs of skin damage, such as scars from acne or injury, stretch marks, enlarged pores, deep wrinkles, and uneven skin texture or pigmentation.

Yes. Venus Versa™ skin resurfacing treatments use radio frequency technology, which is proven to be safe and effective for all skin tones, even darker complexions.

Can skin resurfacing be done during my lunch break?

Absolutely. A single treatment session typically takes only 15-30 minutes.

How many sessions will I need to see results?

Most patients receive 3-4 treatments per area. The exact number will depend on each individual person and the area being treated.

How far apart should my treatments be?

Treatments are generally done 4 weeks apart.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for skin resurfacing treatment?

Make sure your skin is clean. Do not apply any lotions, creams, perfumes, powder, or makeup before your treatment session, and avoid tanning. Remove all jewelry around the area being treated. If you have excessive hair on the treatment area, shave it beforehand. It also helps to be prepared with information about your medical history—the technician will likely ask about it.

What does a treatment feel like? Will it be painful?

You will feel tiny pins on your skin followed by a little zap. Your face will then feel warm, like a sunburn.

Venus Versa™ skin resurfacing treatments may be slightly uncomfortable, but not painful. You’ll feel intense heat, similar to the feeling of sunburn, and your face will look red right after the treatment. For more aggressive treatments, your treatment provider may apply a topical numbing cream to reduce any discomfort.

How will I feel after my treatment?

Your skin will be red and feel warm afterward, like a sunburn. You can ease this by fanning or exposing the area to cool air. Within the first 24 hours, only apply topicals that have been recommended or prescribed by your treatment provider. The warm feeling should go away within 24 hours.

How long will my results last? Are they permanent?

After your final treatment, your results will continue to improve. However, one touch-up session may be needed approximately every 6 months, depending on how your skin responds.

Can I put makeup on after my treatment? What else do I need to do?

No. You should wait till 24 hours after your treatment to apply any makeup or lotion. Some topicals or skin care may be recommended by your treatment provider, and anything you apply should be done in-office or prescribed by them.

If your skin feels hot, you can use a fan to cool it down. Avoid touching or scratching the treatment area. For the first 24 hours, only apply products that are expressly recommended by your treatment provider, as there are many topicals that could cause severe irritation. After 24 hours, you should apply sunscreen (at least SPF 30), preferably one without chemicals. Also avoid rigorous exercise and hot baths or massages on the treatment area for the first 2 days after your session. Make sure to keep your skin clean and protected from the sun. Avoid any sort of tanning.

Am I a good candidate for the wrinkle reduction treatment?

The best candidate for Venus Versa™ wrinkle reduction treatments is someone who is starting to lose elasticity in their skin and is showing signs of fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging.

For safety reasons, you may not be able to get this treatment if you have/are:

      • Active inflammation and/or infection in the treatment area
      • Current or history of cancer
      • A degenerative neurologic disease or any other disease around the treatment area that’s triggered by heat (e.g. herpes)
      • An Internal defibrillator/pacemaker
      • Metal implants (excluding dental) in the treatment area
      • Uncontrolled thyroid gland disorder
      • Varicose veins
      • Pregnant or are undergoing an IVF procedure
      • Skin-related autoimmune diseases
      • Silicone implants and/or injections in the area
I have darker skin - can I have this treatment done?

Yes. Venus Versa™ wrinkle reduction treatments use radio frequency technology that’s proven to be safe and effective for all skin tones, even darker complexions.

Can a wrinkle reduction be done during my lunch break?

Absolutely. Exact treatment times may vary depending on the patient, but a single session typically takes no longer than 30 minutes.

How many sessions will I need to see results?

Most patients receive 6-8 treatments per area. The exact number will depend on each individual person and the area being treated.

How far apart should my treatments be?

Treatments are done once per week.

What does a treatment feel like? Will it be painful?

The applicator will slowly get warmer till your skin reaches the needed temperature and stays within that temperature range. But if you do feel it’s getting too hot, just let the operator know and they can easily lower the temperature a bit.

Treatments are extremely comfortable. Some say it feels like a relaxing hot stone massage. Some even fall asleep during the treatment.

How will I feel after my treatment?

If anything, you’ll feel relaxed. The treatment is extremely comfortable and has been compared to a relaxing hot stone massage. Some patients have even fallen asleep while they were getting treated.

How long will my treatments last? Are they permanent?

The treatments are cumulative. After the final session in your treatment plan, your results will continue to improve for up to 3-4 months. After that, your face and body continue to age, so maintenance is recommended once a month or every 3-4 months, depending on the person.

      Is there downtime?

Absolutely no downtime. The treatment area may look a little flushed and warm to the touch, but this will go away within 1-2 hours. You can return to your daily schedule immediately after your treatment.

Can I put makeup on after my treatment? What else do I need to do?

Yes, you can apply makeup immediately after your treatment. There is nothing further you need to do.

      Easy peasey.
